It has not been confirmed that the reports of blood clots were caused by the AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine. People should still go and get their COVID-19 vaccine when asked to do so.
Evidence tells us that the AstraZeneca vaccine is very safe and causes few serious side effects. The UK has a robust reporting system and after 11 million doses , we haven’t seen any association between the AstraZeneca vaccine and blood clots. A clot in the leg or arm is a very common problem generally.
Across our local area, we have delivered more than 200,000 doses of the Covid-19 vaccine and have not have any serious reactions or side effects reported to us.
If you receive an invitation for your Covid-19 vaccination, please be reassured that the vaccine is safe and effective, and you should take up the offer to protect yourself against Covid-19.
